Lansing Live: Real Music. Real Fun.
New Downtown Lansing Music Series Begins May 20

Traction, a downtown Lansing-based advertising agency, and Urban Feast, the restaurant management firm behind a number of eateries including Tavern on the Square and Troppo, are excited to announce the creation of a new, weekly live music showcase. Lansing Live will take place on Washington Square on Thursdays throughout the summer, starting on May 20.

Each week, Lansing Live will feature local artists and bands. Shows will begin around 4 p.m. on the 200 block of S. Washington Square. All shows are 21 years old and up.

“We’ve been working on this concept for several years as a way to showcase some of our great local and regional bands; bands that often times play throughout the state, we’re excited to be able to offer them for free to the masses on Washington Square this summer as well as showcasing some of our downtown restaurant and bars” says Kris Elliott.

“I can’t imagine a better way to spend a warm summer evening than hanging out downtown with my friends, listening to talented local bands that have entertained us all for years,” says Traction owner Camron Gnass. “Downtown entertainment venues have had tremendous success. Compared to even two years ago, downtown is completely different. This adds another reason to try out downtown Lansing for the nightlife.”

Gnass’s Traction and Urban Feast, which is owned by Kris Elliott, have been contributing to the community for years through the involvement in and funding of community improvement efforts. Lansing Live is another way to draw attention to the revitalized downtown.

Elizabeth Karam, a PhD Candidate, Michigan State University said, "I moved into my loft on Washington Square about a year ago and, even in that short time, I've seen the downtown area grow in residents, businesses, and liveliness. It's a pretty special time to be down here and, honestly, I can't wait to see what this summer has in store."
